While we probably missed the boat for Father's Day, these gifts are not just for dad's and dad figures, so it works out. We did want to share some of the more functional and fun items we've been loving, not just aesthetically pleasing. Not just for life ON water, but great for water & outdoor lovers in general.
First things first, if you've been looking for an inflatable paddle board, you should absolutely do this. I've had my Atoll board since 2017 and it's been a TROOPER. Durable as hell, easy to inflate, excellent customer service when my pump broke and they just popped a new one in the mail. Light paddle. Actually rolls up into the backpack. Honestly, the best. I might get a second one just for a new color in photos haha.
You'll want a dry bag, too. Here are some options. And don't say I didn't warn you, but get a big one! Why? Because if you live in the midwest, you'll have layers. You're throwing a towel (I usually have two of these), sweatshirt, sweatpants, shoes maybe, and snacks/water. I actually prefer to keep my water bottle IN the bag but I realize it would be just as smart to clip it to the ropes.
You do need a PFD, so don't skimp. I have been "pulled over" by the water cops before without one. Avoid that. If you are in rougher waters, get one you can wear — a belt or vest. If you're just floating around, you're probably good with the classic orange one strapped to your device or something small/minimal. Of the hundreds of paddles, I've never deployed or worn mine. Not bragging, but it just hasn't felt needed. IF you are on hard surface board, you probably want to rethink that, I just know that if I fall off my inflatable, chances are I won't be concussed :)
