Our COLD WATER SWIM CLUB design (by the talented Eliz Welling of Goodfare ) makes its debut on an assortment of thrifted tees (by RKVintage here in MKE). These were printed in a limited run batch right here in MKE by Uncommon Wild. Quite the team.
The swim club logo in gray blue is at the front with the Lake Effect Co horizon line logo at cuff or yoke. If a pocket tee, the large design is on the back and the small logo on the pocket.
FIT NOTES: these all appear to be true to size XL with the exception of the navy pocket tee which appears to be slightly cropped.
Due to the limited number, these are truly one of a kind and final sale. Please ask questions about sizing and be prepared to measure your favorite tops to make sure what you're ordering will be what you want.
NOTE: The imprints on some look a little worn, just because the fabric itself took to the ink differently and some of the sweatshirts themselves have minor flaws (not surprising considering these are older pieces). If you like a pristine piece, these are not for you.
FIT NOTES
The sizes listed are true to how they fit vs what they are tagged on. I've done this because so many vintage pieces are 1-2 sizes smaller than they'd be marked as today.
Why thrifted?
Because this is one way to waste less — stop buying virgin goods! True sustainability means using what already is on hand vs creating a demand for more. This means that these pieces are going to have flaws.
Why the design?
Sometimes your hobbies sneak up on you, in a good way, for how they soothe the body & soul. Cold Water Swim Club is one such hobby.
After a lifetime of loving to be the latest swimmer in the fall and the first in the spring, and then months of cold showers, during the winter of 2020, I finally started cold swimming. And now there's a whole little crew of us who swam through the original lockdowns, and on, and on.
Liz, of Goodfare, put together two designs for us, and this one was a last minute change up inspired by one of my long walks by the water. I wanted something that kinda gave you that sense of slipping under the surface of the water and getting lost in the inner stillness that only comes from the cold.
There's a reason why this movement is catching on, and when you know, you KNOW. :)
