Today on the blog we have Diana, a dear friend of Lake Effect Co that we met through our partner Women Hiking Wisconsin! A few weekends ago, Diana and friends headed to Northern Wisconsin for a weekend of snowshoeing, beer, and taking in the beauty of lovely wintry weather. Way to get out there, girl! Follow her on IG at @diana.mke and make sure to also follow @womenhikingwisconsin.
My friend’s Dad built their cabin and she was kind enough to invite a number of us for a weekend away!
Like some of the best weekends are, our weekend was simple and full of fresh air. It consisted of:
-Snowshoeing Stevens Lake (going over the road barrier which was completely covered in snow and snowshoeing in probably 4 feet of snow!)
-Lots of falling over
-Spending time around the fires in the cabin
-Snowshoeing 4 miles in Anvil Lake trail
-Eating giant pancakes and waffles at a local diner
-Enjoying beers at Tribute Brewing Co
-Snowshoeing Cathedral Pines Trail - some of the oldest trees in WI
-Making stew and watching Sleepless in Seattle
It’s tempting to get cranky over winters that seem to go on and on, but that’s only a matter of attitude. This was a truly wonderful weekend that made me grateful for this long Wisconsin winter and the gorgeous plethora of snow. Hygge on overdrive, in the best way.
